Ghana to complete Aburi Crafts Village

Ms Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Trade and Industry, says government would work with traditional authorities to develop viable economic ventures that have the potential to create jobs for the youth.

She said government through her ministry has resolved to develop the creative industries such as the Aburi Crafts village to ensure healthy partnership between the people and the government.

Ms Tetteh assured the chiefs and people of Aburi that government had taken notice of the potential of the Aburi Botanical Gardens and the Crafts Village and plans are advanced for the facilities to be given the required attention.

She said the Crafts village which had reached the third phase would be completed whilst the botanical gardens would be given a facelift to meet the tourism demands and to create jobs for the people in the area.

The Minister was speaking at a durbar of the chiefs and people to mark the annual Odwira festival at Aburi over the weekend.
 
Nana Kwasi Otobuour Djan Kwasi, Aburihene in an address appealed for the renovation of the Aburi Botanical Gardens and the completion of the Aburi Crafts village, which he said had the potential to create jobs to hundreds of the youth in the area and boost tourism.

On behalf of Government, the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, donated GH₵4,000 and 20 cartoons of assorted drinks to the chiefs and people of Aburi as government contribution towards the observation of the festival.
